Why you should pay
attention to weather patterns?
Weather is the
single most important factor governing sailing and the
safety of you and your a crew. When we consider weather
factors it is in this light and
not whether it will be raining or sunny.
Comfort is important but safety is paramount.
What to
look for in a Weather Forecast?
The most important factor
is wind strength. You should also consider:
-
Swell
-
Wind
direction
-
Warnings -
including the chances of an isolated thunder storm.
Where do I get the weather?
TV, radio,
internet, (see the links below) , newspapers.
Onboard radio broadcasts from the Coastguard and the Coastal
Patrol. You will be introduced to weather in lesson 1
of your first course with Simply Sailing.
Impress your instructor by looking up the weather before
your lesson!
