Crews
Generally
We meet at the Boat Deck, which is the
lower level of the Middle Harbour 16ft Skiff Club, Parriwi
Road, the Spit from 5.20pm.
Check in with whichever Simply Sailing
representative has the clipboard. You may then proceed
to the upper level (bar + bistro) if you are early or wish
to purchase BYO drinks. You can sit on the balcony and
wait for the call sign for your crew to board The Water Rat
(our tender to your yacht).

Eclare + Xcess must depart Middle Harbour by 5.40pm, so
boarding is no later than 5.30pm.
Paldies boards
by 5.40pm for a 5.45 pm departure.
Departure
times - social sailing boat (AKA the "CruiseClass")
Social sailors
are requested to be on deck by 5.30 pm. You are
allowed to run around the corner and jump in the tender at
the last push off the beach, only if carry beer!!
Please note that our boats and crew cannot and do not "wait"
for late sailors.
What are we
sailing for?
Chocolate
Eclare + Xcess compete for the prestigious Yellow Jersey
Perpetual Trophy - and race against Penguinsail Manly's
identical 2 Swarbick 80's "Aida" and "Madama Butterfly".
Xcess are the current holders of the trophy (Go Simply
Sailing!). This is one hotly contested title and we
are expecting plenty of action this year. We
have one strict rule :: a student must helm! Choc and
the Big X also race within the Manly Yacht Club fleet (up to
30 boats).
Cuckoo's Nest
with sail number Manly Yacht Club 2 is undoubtedly Manly's
most famous racing yacht, so it is with delight that we race
her from Middle Harbour each week. Master
tactician Chris Matthews will skipper this brand new Bavaria
Match 42 in the Manly Yacht Club fleet. Our direct
competition is the Bavaria 44 Manly Too.
A win in the
Manly Yacht Club fleet means a big bottle of vino, acclaim
and fame, and a time penalty of nine minutes! (All
will be revealed).
Post Sailing
We head back
to the Skiffies bar + bistro at Middle Harbour - all are
welcome to join us. As we usually arrive just as the
kitchen is closing we ask that you ring in your order from
the boat. Allocate a crew member for this task and the
skipper will know where the menu is stowed. This will
ensure relaxed bistro staff + tasty food! As
well as boning up on your sailing skills this is an
opportunity to meet fellow Simply Sailing ites.
If you know in
advance that in you are dining with us please let us know -
this means that the Bistro doesn't need to polish its
crystal ball quite as hard!
Bookings
Must be made
and confirmed by payment.
Bookings are no longer accepted without full payment.
No refunds for paid sails. Transfers for paid
and complimentary social sails allowed on seven days notice
in writing. We are forced to be tough on this and have
now heard every excuse in the book. Traffic
conditions, the mood of your boss, sickness, your mother
being in town, you not remembering to check your
emails, you turning up 10 minutes late etc, etc - all these
and more are factors outside our control and do not entitle
you to a transfer of your sail. Please respect the
fact that social and twilight sailing is a scheduled
business activity.
Weather
Please note
that rain is not a deterrent to sailing. You are
entitled to a transfer of your sail, or a credit of that
value to be spent with us, if Simply Sailing cancel the sail
for reasons of safety. Please respect this condition that
essentially says that weather is your risk.
