of Chris Matthews legendary race training skills and book our
"Professor of Sailing" to smarten up your crew work.
Available for a minimum of 3 hours rates are reasonable and
crew fusion is guaranteed. From basic to advanced, Chris
will assess your crew work, identify weaknesses and work with
you for some sailing harmony. $100 ph 3-4 persons, $125ph
for 5+.
Much of our race
coach training has been based upon our legendary Racing
Toolbox courses, which were offered regularly whilst the
Simply Sailing school was operating in full swing. Below
is a precis of the content of these courses - feel free to
request for these to be incorporated into your crew racing
training.
Racing Toolbox -
Headsail Trim & Pole
A three hour intensive to get
you trimming the "headdy" like an
expert. This module will raise your
confidence and skill levels in this all important area.
Skippers and experienced crew
rarely have the time on the
racecourse to train up new crew in this
position.

Racing Toolbox -
Introduction to
Spinnakers
Demystify
the big coloured sail and shoot up the crew register rankings
with our basic spinnaker course.
Gain confidence in the following areas:

Terminology & crew
positions

Packing, rigging, setting
& hoisting

Trimming & dropping
-
Set Procedures & gybes
At the end of this course you
should be able to pack, rig, hoist, set and trim
a spinnaker and feel
comfortable in basic hoists, drops and gybes.

Advanced
Spinnakers
This course
aims to give you total control of
spinnaker work and will have you mixing it like a guru!
Topics include:

the effect of the mainsail
and headsail
-
heavy weather trimming
-
tactical advantage & steering
-
all types of rigging and all
types of drops
We mix theory and practical
instruction in this session to focus on maximising your
spinnaker work.
On a
Swarbick 80 - maximum THREE students or for larger groups of 6
persons, on the stunning new Bavaria Match 42 (with 2
instructors).
At the conclusion of this
course you should
be able to:

rig, hoist, set and trim a
spinnaker in all weathers

be able to participate in and
direct all types of hoists & drops
