Simply Sailing
graduate heads north - and wins!
Principal Chris
Matthews (aka the "night stalker") headed north this Christmas
in the 2006 Pittwater to Coffs offshore race and aided and
abetted "Morna" in scooping the no.1 spot on handicap in the
PHS Division!
Owner skipper Greg
Zyner loved his sailing lessons with Simply Sailing so much he
rushed off to purchase his Cavalier 350 after his
competent crew course (several years ago)! Greg and
his crew have been improving steadily and picked up a swag of
accolades at the Manly Yacht Club end of season presentation.
This is a
fantastic result - Congratulations!

"Night Stalker strikes in the
FKP Sydney to Mooloolaba 2004
This year's Sunshine Coast Shuffle was indeed a long slow
and tactical race. These sort of conditions
frustrate many a sailor but only serve as a platform for the
Night Stalker! Chris Matthews and the crew of
the Wadadli showed the Sydney 38 Division how long races are
run, taking out the no.1 coveted spot in the Sydney 38 OD
division.

Nossiter
selected for Athens Olympics
Congratulations to Anthony "Nocka" Nossiter, on his selection
for his second Olympics Games. Nocka sails in the
international Finn dinghy class and cut his teeth sailing in
and around Middle Harbour. Nocka has supported Simply Sailing
from its inception and is our endorsee of the Racing Toolbox
packages.
Nocka hails
from one of those famous sailing dynasties. Dad
Ben champions the Adams 10 "Sirius" around the Harbour, and
grandfather Nossiter was the first man
to
circumnavigate Australia in a yacht. And if that isn't
history enough, Nocka's first Australian relative hit the
lucky country on board one of the first fleet vessels - you
guessed it - the "Sirius".
The Finn class is the men's
single-handed dinghy and is one of nine Olympic sailing
classes. The female equivalent is the Europe.
The
Finn boat made its competition debut
in 1949, but was not included as an Olympic
class until the Games in Helsinki in 1952. A Finn
measures 4.54 metres (14ft 10in) long and 1.5 metres
(4ft 11in) wide.
Nocka won 7 out of the 10 races
in the 2004 Sail Melbourne regatta proving that he is the
right man for the job. This will be Nock's second
Olympics, following on from the 2000 Sydney Games.
Go Nocka Go!
