Sailing Adventures
Fast track your
way to Competent Crew or Inshore Skipper this summer.
Our Australian Sailing Adventures have been designed
specifically for holiday makers or those folk with time on
their hands. The consistent ingredient is the desire for
a sailing adventure.
Our 2 packages
are designed to mix practical and theoretical instruction with
a generous dollop of social sailing, fun racing plus entry
into Sydney's local sailing community - all this in one of the
world's top tourist hot spots. Australian Sailing
Adventures are tailored for the rookies, for those with no
experience - but are also a perfect fit for those with some
experience in need of some intensive refresher training.
And whilst we
are sailing under the Sydney Harbour Bridge and past the Opera
House, admiring the views and topping up the tan, let's not
forget that we are learning the art of sailing! To
be precise, we will cover the syllabus for the National
Competent Crew and Inshore Skippers Certificates.
These are recreational sailing courses, designed as a set of
building blocks by Australia's peak sailing body, Yachting
Australia. We add extra hours to the time
prescribed by Yachting Australia - to counterbalance the fast
track nature of the program.
We will
introduce you to the hidden secrets of Sydney Harbour and the
custom and manners of Australian sailors. Learn
how to wind a winch, read the weather, and navigate your way
to the seafood markets. (Then celebrate your new
found skills with a glass of crisp Australian riesling and a
platter of the freshest prawns.)
We include
plenty of opportunities to reinforce your learning and your
water confidence - social sailing, twilight racing, a half
day's kayaking. We conclude each week with a harbour
cruise and bbq to a harbour top spot. Make new friends
and gain valuable skills on a holiday to remember with the
Australian Sailing Adventures.
Course dates are
listed - however we can be flexible to your
itinerary for 2 or more persons.
Australian
Sailing Adventures #1
Your route to
the National Competent
Crew Certificate couldn't be easier or more fun than
with Simply Sailing's 1 week adventure!
In five days we
will cover both the
Introductory
and
Competent Crew
syllabus - in more time than recommended - and
transform you into a competent cruising crew member in
sheltered waters.
We will let you
loose on the racecourse on a three hour social race and
introduce you to the night lights of Sydney Harbour in our
four hour navigational night sail.
On day 5 our
kick back and relax cruise to a secret bbq location will
conclude your Australian Sailing Adventure.
$1,100.00 includes a
Yachting Australia logbook and certificate.
Australian
Sailing Adventures #2
Your route to
the
National Inshore Skipper
Certificate is within easy grasp with our
comprehensive and structured 2 week course (incorporating
Australian Sailing Adventures #1 and more).
After mastering
the basics in week 1 we will continue your journey to the
stage where you will be confident in all aspects of boat
handling in sheltered waters.
Again our mix of
theoretical and practical instruction is consolidated with
opportunities for real life harbour racing - put those new
found skills into action on Sydney Harbour's magic playground.
On the final day
we will hoist the spinnaker and introduce you to sailing most
colourful piece of rag. Our concluding bbq at a
Sydney Harbour secret location, will be followed by all the
tactics and fun of twilight sailing.
